Low socio-economic status is one of the most relevant health risk factors

In a video produced within the framework of the Lifecourse biological pathways underlying social differences in healthy ageing (LIFEPATH) project, Dr. Silvia Stringhini, from the dMC (IUMSP), presents the results from a study on socio-economic status as a health risk factor:

The overall aim of the LIFEPATH project is to understand the determinants of pathways divergence in persons belonging to different socio-economic groups. Dramatic gaps in healthy ageing, quality of life and life expectancy among individuals from different socio-economic groups, are a major societal challenge for Europe.
