Cochrane in Geneva !

From 4 to 7 April 2017, the team of Cochrane Switzerland was the official host of the Cochrane Mid-Year Meeting, Cochrane’s strategic annual meeting, with about 170 participants from around the world.

Cochrane Switzerland, hosted and funded by the IUMSP, is an Associate Centre of Cochrane, an international network fostering healthcare decision-making based on trusted evidence stemming from systematic reviews and other research data syntheses.

The meeting was preceded by a day shared with WHO, whose teams were able to participate in training workshops offered by Cochrane as well as in a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening the two bodies’ partnership, e.g. in the field of nutrition and public health. Indeed, as a civil organisation, Cochrane is a permanently appointed observer at the World Health Assembly since 2011, and thus able to tie privileged links with this organisation.

During that week, a new committee representing the various Cochrane Groups in this extensive network was also formed: the Cochrane Council. The inaugural session was co-chaired by Dr. Erik von Elm, Co-director of Cochrane Switzerland and elected member of the Council.
